How to Prepare For An Eye Exam

How to Prepare for an Eye Exam

If you have been having trouble seeing clearly, or if you are suffering from a vision-related condition, it is likely you are ready to seek treatment from one of the optometrists in the San Antonio area. Make an appointment at Vision Source Castle Hills to meet with our eye doctor for routine eye care and a vision exam. Here is a synopsis of what you can expect during your appointment.

Your Vision History Is Evaluated

When you make an appointment with one of our optometrists, you will need to fill out paperwork about your current vision difficulties and medical history. Your designated eye doctor will ask you to elaborate on any issues that could impact your vision or health. Make sure to bring along your vision insurance card so we can conduct the process of receiving payment for services from your provider. If you are unsure whether your policy will cover your expenses, give us a call, and we will help you obtain the necessary information.

Your Eyes Are Checked for Medical Issues

You will need to conduct a series of simple tests in the comfort of our business to check on the health of your eyes. These are noninvasive and only take a few minutes of your time. Most of the tests are conducted using state-of-the-art equipment and results are obtained right away. If there is an issue that needs to be addressed, your eye doctor will make recommendations regarding treatment.

Your Vision Is Checked for Prescription Requirements

During your vision exam, you will need to read letters, numbers, and/or symbols presented to you in a chart form. You will look through an eyepiece and glass plates used to sharpen images. When your prescription strength is obtained, you will have the opportunity to pick out new glasses frames if desired. If you want contact lenses, your eyes will need to be measured to ensure a perfect fit.
